Everything you need in one convenient kit. All of the components in this kit are tried and tested by me, and the ideal gear for starting a life with no gears (?). You save a few quid too.
Use your existing chainring and any shimano style 7, 8 or 9 speed hub.
... and you get:
- TENSIONER: A nice copy of the surly chain tensioner to take the slack out of your chain (great quality and reliable sprung tensioner, ideal for road and mountainbikes).
- CHAIN: A KMC 1/8 inch width singlespeed Z410 chain
- COGS & SPACERS: Spacers and two cogs, a 16 tooth and 18 tooth, so finding the right ratio is a breeze. The cogs are drilled to save weight, so even nicer than the ones illustrated!
- CHAINRING BOLTS: A pack of five top quality skinny and strong cromo bolts so that you can clamp just one of your rings to your cranks. Use the ring that's already on your bike. You could buy a tall toothed one speed ring from me but most geared rings will be OK, just so long as they are not worn out.
- STICKERS: Charlie The Bikemonger one speed slogan sticker. The slogan varies but they are all cool: NO Britneys (its cockney rhyming), One Less car, More beers than gears etc...
We also have a bundle of one speed tools with everything you need to fit this (except for allen keys which you probably already have) CLICK HERE

A nice bit of kit, just no brand name. You can get cheaper ones, but we have found these cheaper ones not to be that reliable, and we don't want to sell anything that will let you down. You will like this tensioner.
Ideal on road bikes as the jockey wheel is quieter than a roller. Also great offroad.
Ever stomp on the pedals just to have your rear wheel slide forward in the dropouts and throw your chain? We have....using all kinds of hubs in all kinds of frames.
There are lots of BMX-style tensioners out there, but few of them fit in mountainbike / track dropouts without some serious grinding. So, we decided to design a chain tensioner that will keep that rear wheel static in the dropouts...and most other kinds of rear-facing horizontal dropouts. Plus, ours will open up a bottle o' brew.
What's more it makes getting perfect chain tension a breeze - spot on everytime - no need to hold the bike with one hand, pull the wheel back in another hand, and then wrench the bolts down in yet another hand (that's three hands!)
Works with bolts and Quick releases. The tugnut takes the load, so you can run a QR without fear of slipage.
The body of the Tuggnut is investment cast in stainless steel for durability. It features a thumbscrew, for tool-free adjustments, and 2 axle holes for a wide range of fore/aft wheel positions.
The Tuggnut comes with an aluminum adapter that reduces the axle hole from 10mm to 6mm, so you can use it with quick-release axles, in addition to nutted axles. We sell it as a single, because you really only need one...on the drive side. But, if you absolutely need one on the non-drive side of your rig, to achieve balance in your life, you are in luck...the bottle opener works either way.
This is just great for bikes with a single ring at the front and gears at the back. It stops your chain hopping off at the front.
Developed with World Cup powerhouse Adam Craig, the 1.x is purpose-built for cross country riding with a 1x9 drive train. If you are running 1x9 and don't need a bash guard, this is the ticket. No more homemade contraptions needed!
