Ralph has truly great grip, cornering speed and defies wash-out, which is why so many riders love it! We were surprised how it has been possible to have so much grip with such low rolling resistance. The secret is 3 +'s: Hi-tech manufacture + an Evo-carcass + triple compound + U-blocks. On the first few rides I would stick a foot out expecting some drift or wash out, and it never came. Time to keep your feet on the pedals.

Charlie says: Since owning a Surly Cross check I have been hunting for a large volume, fast, light and grippy tyre. And here it is.

They not only hang in well on the dirt, and in the wet, they also look great.

They roll very very well

And the best bit is that they are seriously puncture resistant. I have put in thousands of miles on Marathons (Slicks, and the old XR) and have only ever had one puncture, which was a tack, kinda hard to avoid losing air with a small vertical nail.
