Niner SIR9 29er Reynolds 853 Frame
Description
Charlie says... "The best bike I have ever ridden - seriously. I have been riding and racing on one of these for about 4 years. I run it with rigid steel fork and one gear. The handling is out of this world. You know when folk return from a demo ride they say "I am actually a better biker than I thought I was", which pretty much sums it up. Get one of these and remove all the mechanical limitations to your biking. Its a pretty tough approach as the only weakness left... is you!"
We have a couple of medium frames that have been in the shop fgor a while... so we are doing a bit of a sweet deal on this one.

- For use with gears or singlespeed (comes with two dropout hangers)
- Disc brake only
- Kermit Green 0r Moondust Grey
- http://www.ninerbikes.com/fly.aspx?layout=bikes&taxid=96 for more details

My second, steel, 29er and almost twice the price of the first. How different was it going to be? Ride wise, it is more compliant, it feels much more relaxed and is a real mile muncher. Non stop rides of 4 hours plus are achieved without too much hassle no doubt helped by the back end. I have found myself going faster than expected which has lead to rapid application of brakes. I guess I haven't got the front end sorted out yet. I am running Rebas set at 100mm and once the corners tighten up it all gets pretty slow. Running 80mm may be better. I have been very impressed with the bike in all respects bar one, and it is a big one for an £800 frame. The paint is too thin and too soft. Stone chips appeared on the first ride and even a dropped 4mm allen key left a mark on the top tube. I guess it will be resprayed one day and this minor annoyance will go away. A five star frame except for the paint which means a reduction to 4.

I have had this frame for almost a year now and it is just growing and growing on me. A real mile muncher, all day epic machine that rips it up in the tight singletrack like it is on rails. Sit and spin or get into a big gear and sprint, the frame responds with interest. Climbing is a revelation and as for when the trails points down....I am only held up my my lack of bottle. Buy one, you won't regret it.

Wading through the carbon Scott scale 29er, Ellsworth Truth, Carbon Giant XTC, Roberts Dogs Bollox, Giant Anthem, Niner Air Nine Carbon (just sold) there it is hanging on the wall, always brings a smile to my face, I usually run it SS but occaisionally run an Alfine for Marky Boy & my light weight camping extravaganzas. I can''t get enough of this bike, Ridged with Niner carbon forks, Stans etc. Together we have now covered over 11,000 miles in the three years I''ve had it. I cannot remember ever riding a bike that feels totally STEEL, sprung, comfy (one of my Favourite 45 yr old words), I''ve ridden over 30 70-120 mile off road rides........ it just covers miles....lots of em ! It has become quite possibly my fave bike of all time, whether ss racing, towing me boy on his trail gator, camping. And yes..............The paint is CRAP. Let''s hope the new model is as good as this ?!?
