About us (me)...
Charlie The Bikemonger is a bike shop in Swanage, on the famed Jurassic coast of Dorset, UK. The area offers lots of interesting and exciting places to cycle including Corfe Castle, Durdle Door, and a whole island (that is actually joined to the mainland in reality) of “famous five” countryside.
I am located on the High Street, just beyond the Purbeck House Hotel, just before the Black Swan. I have a small fleet of 29er bikes, in a variety of sizes to suit all shapes and sizes.

The Bikes... When it comes to cycling in my neighbourhood I know what’s what... and this is why we use lightweight 29er mountainbikes:

29er wheels: bigger than standard 26” wheels so you roll along faster, in more comfort, and with more ease.
Puncture resistant inner tubes, so you spend your time enjoying the bike and the area, and not faffing with a pump.
Comfy saddles
Disc brakes, for reliable all weather braking
Front suspension to smooth out the bumps, that can also be “locked out” when on the road
Helmet is included with each bike. The helmets are great quality and cost £50 each normally
A repair kit (pump, spare tubes, tools) is included with each group.
A lock is supplied with each bike (and MUST be used)
We can also deliver and collect from your home, campsite, hotel etc. This starts at £5 per bike, call for more details.

Notice is required for kids bikes and trailers

To rent a bike you need to...

Be over 18 years of age.
Bring photo ID (passport, drivers licence). We also take a photograph of you.
Bring a valid debit or credit card with sufficient capacity for the security deposit of £200 per bike. This is refunded once the bike is returned.
Sign a form.
Any damages will be taken from the deposit. However I am fair and understand that bikes are there to be used, not polished, so wont bother you for minor issues.

We can take walk in booking when bikes are available.

We often need notice for child bikes and trailers.
We can take walk in on the day booking, but only if bikes are available.

Terms And Conditions...

To hire bikes or equipment from Bikemonger Ltd is simple, but we do require that you fill out a bike hire agreement form.
The signatory on the hire agreement form is designated the hirer, must be 18 years or older and we will require proof of ID.
By signing a hire agreement form, the hirer is accepting the terms and conditions stated below.
Stay cool, be nice, don’t hurt yourself or others.
If you don’t know what is around a corner, assume its a cliff and certain death. There are a lot of cliffs around here.
Cycling on public roads and highways carries risks and that you are aware of these risks.
All bicycles in your party will be ridden safely and responsibly at all times.
All bicycles in your party will be returned within the specified hire period.
You will obey the law. Whilst using the public highway, all riders must observe the Highway Code. If cycling off road, please keep to public rights-of-way where cycling is permitted and exercise due care to all other users.
Cycling at night is more dangerous, all bikes will not be ridden at night unless lights are used.
A cycle helmet must be used at all times.
Damage to any bicycles or equipment will be the responsibility of the hirer and repairs or replacement will be charged for at the full market value.
All bicycles in your party will be locked to an immovable object when not being ridden.
